What is a Confirmation ID (CID)?
During certain Microsoft product phone-activation workflows, the activation screen displays an Installation ID (IID). A Confirmation ID is the response used in that workflow to continue activation. The exact process depends on the product, license, region, and Microsoft's current activation options.
A CID is different from a product key, a Microsoft account, or proof of a valid license. You must have a valid license and follow the applicable Microsoft terms and activation instructions.
How to use the free NovaLicense Get CID tool
1. Open the NovaLicense Get CID page. 2. Choose Enter Installation ID and paste the complete numeric IID from your product's activation screen, or select Upload Screenshot and provide a clear screenshot showing the IID. 3. Submit the request and wait for the result. 4. If a Confirmation ID is returned, follow the instructions shown by your product's activation wizard.
Use only the Installation ID displayed on your own activation screen. Check the digits before submitting, and do not upload screenshots containing passwords, email inboxes, payment details, or other private information.
Does free Get CID mean Windows or Office is free?
No. The online CID utility is offered free to use; it does not make Windows, Microsoft Office, or any other paid software free. It does not supply a product key or grant a license. You remain responsible for having a genuine, valid license and complying with the software publisher's terms.
If you need a Windows or Office license, review the product details and license terms in the NovaLicense store and verify compatibility and activation conditions before purchasing.
What if the tool returns an error?
Check that you entered the complete IID exactly as shown, without missing digits. If you used a screenshot, upload a sharp, well-lit image with the full Installation ID visible and no cropping. Some IDs, editions, or requests may not be supported by the provider, and availability can vary.
If the activation wizard offers another official activation option, you can follow Microsoft's on-screen instructions or consult Microsoft Support. Never share your Microsoft account password, recovery codes, or one-time passcodes with anyone.
